Race is something that people identify with and to some, it is an important part of themselves that helps build a strong attachment to their identity. However, others also use race as a form of differentiating and even as a form of judgment which in turn may result in racism. Altogether there is so much history to every race which is why some feel so passionate and why many connect so strongly with their race. Because of the history and important events and accomplishments that each individual race has gone through, it is important to understand everyone’s racial background to be more accepting of them. At a young age, many of us are taught to treat everyone equally, no matter how different someone may be. In many societies children are taught that being different is okay and that your differences make you who you are, therefore it is important to embrace those differences rather than be embarrassed of them. This is something that applies to me personally because growing up, schools always tried to tell me and my classmates that everyone should be treated equally and fairly. But even though we were all taught to treat everyone equally, some of those same classmates grew up and either became completely unaccepting of differences or they chose to identify others based on their differences.
